How to use this blog

on April 14, 2010

Welcome to Ms. L’s Physical Education blog!

So what exactly is a “post”?

A “post” is an interactive newsletter that I create. Parents, their children, and other teachers can respond to the newsletter if you wish by clicking on the comment link at the end. For those of you that are worried about posting on the Internet each comment is screened by me prior to being posted on the Internet. This will make for a safer blogging atmosphere because I will be able to edit any information that may be considered too personal as well as delete any comments that are inappropriate.

To the right there are a bunch of links for you to click on. Here is what they do:

Subscribe to this Blog: If you would like to get notified every time I write something new you can enter your e-mail here.  By doing this you will receive an e-mail each time I update the blog.

Categories: All of the links described above are websites from an outside source. They are resources that I have found and used during my education or my employment. In contrast the links listed under “CATEGORIES” are links to posts that I have created myself. I have created 6 different categories to make it easier to sort through the posts I create.

  1. Adventures of Ms. L: These are stories about things I do to stay fit throughout the year. Maybe you would like to try some of them too.
  2. Exercise: These are post that have to do with exercise. It may be tips or it may be a survey about fitness or whatever comes to my mind.
  3. Health: Health facts are ever changing. Hopefully some of these post will help to keep you informed on the most current trends in health.
  4. P.E.A.C.E.: This category will link you to posts that will concentrate on character education issues and sportsmanship.
  5. Sports: Sports are a very broad topic, and many people have different ideas about sports. Under this category there will be posts that will explore the vast world of athletics.
  6. What’s in the gym?: Ever wonder what is going on in the gym? This category will attempt to keep you informed of the current activities going on in the gym.

Recent Posts: This is a list of the most recent post I have created. Click on any of the titles to read more of that post

Health: These are links to different websites that are related to health topics. Currently there are 3 links. CDC Healthy Kids and Healthy People are government based websites that provide guidelines for a healthy life style and current goals that the federal government are trying to reach. KidsHealth is an interactive website for parents, teachers, and children.

P.E.A.C.E.: P.E.A.C.E. is an acronym that stands for Physical Education Acknowledges Character Education. This means that our Physical Education program strives to incorporate character education by teaching children to PLAY HARD, PLAY SAFE, and PLAY FAIR. Under this category you will find links to stories and articles about character education and good sportsmanship.

Physical Education: This section has links can be used as a resource for any questions you may have about PE. I have linked the NYS Physical Education FAQs, PE Central (which is a resource I use for ideas for my class), and PE Gang which is an interactive site for children to use.

So welcome to Ms. L’s PE blog! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

-Ms. L
